Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using mootbase (available at mootbase.com, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and mootbase ("we," "us," or "our").

Your continued use of the Service after we post changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes as described in Section 12.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using mootbase, you represent and warrant that you are 16 years of age or older. The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under that age.

You must also comply with Bluesky's own Terms of Service when interacting with Bluesky content or signing in via your Bluesky account. Your Bluesky account is governed by Bluesky's policies; mootbase has no control over Bluesky's platform rules.

3. The Service

mootbase is a creator social graph. We index publicly available Bluesky data — including handles, display names, avatar images, and public post excerpts that contain @-mentions alongside media — to build a graph of creator relationships ("collaboration edges"). This graph is visible to anyone who visits the site; no account is required to browse it.

Signed-in users (authenticated via Bluesky OAuth) may additionally:

  • Claim and manage their auto-created creator profile.
  • Add or edit non-Bluesky identities (Instagram handle, X/Twitter handle) via self-report.
  • Rate other creators they share a confirmed collaboration edge with (thumbs up or down).
  • Self-report a capacity/role for each of their collaboration edges.
  • Trigger a Bluesky scan of their own account to surface new collaboration candidates (rate-limited to once per hour).
  • Confirm or reject their own pending collaboration candidates.
  • Delete their account.

Administrators curate the canonical collaboration graph: confirming edges, managing the capacity vocabulary, and reviewing queued candidates.

The Service is currently free of charge. There are no paid features and we do not sell user data to third parties.

4. Account Creation and Deletion

Accounts on mootbase are created automatically when you sign in with a valid Bluesky account. We use your Bluesky DID (Decentralized Identifier) as the stable internal key for your account; your handle is a mutable display attribute that we update on rescan.

You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Account deletion is a soft delete: your creator profile is immediately hidden from all public views, and your Bluesky DID is added to a permanent blocklist that prevents future sign-ins with the same account. However, collaboration edges that were confirmed while your account was active remain part of the public graph. These edges reflect publicly-sourced, multi-party collaborations and were confirmed by human review; removing them would corrupt the graph for all connected parties.

If you believe a confirmed edge was created in error or contains inaccurate information, please send us a DM at @mootbase.com on Bluesky.

5. Your Content and Identities

Public Bluesky data (posts, handles, display names, avatars) is indexed from Bluesky's public AppView API. You retain all rights to content you create on Bluesky; by making it public on Bluesky, you have already made it available for indexing by third parties including mootbase. We display this data to show your public creative collaborations.

Non-Bluesky identities (Instagram or X/Twitter handles) that you add via your profile settings are self-reported and taken at your word ("trust on submit"). You are responsible for the accuracy of these submissions. Do not submit handles that belong to someone else.

You grant mootbase a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store and display the content you submit (capacity claims, ratings, platform handles) for the purpose of operating the Service. This licence ends when you delete your account, subject to the edge-retention policy in Section 4.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.
  • Harass, bully, threaten, or harm other users or creators in the graph.
  • Post or submit spam, unsolicited promotions, or repetitive content.
  • Submit false collaboration claims or inaccurate identity information about other people.
  • Circumvent any rate limits, access controls, or security measures.
  • Scrape or harvest data from the Service in ways that violate these Terms or Bluesky's Terms of Service.
  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law or regulation.
  • Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or other harmful materials.

We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and take appropriate action, including removing content, restricting access, or terminating accounts.

7. Ratings and Reviews

Signed-in users may submit a thumbs-up or thumbs-down rating for creators they share a confirmed collaboration edge with. These ratings are opinions, not verified facts. mootbase does not endorse any rating. Ratings must reflect genuine experiences; ratings submitted to manipulate visibility or harm a specific creator's reputation may be removed.

Ratings are associated with your account; if you delete your account, your ratings may be removed from the public display.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in impersonation, harassment, spam, or any conduct that violates Bluesky's own Terms of Service.

You may stop using the Service at any time. If you delete your account, your profile is immediately hidden and your DID is blocklisted as described in Section 4.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

Collaboration data is derived from publicly observable Bluesky activity and is subject to human review errors, Bluesky data availability, and the inherent limitations of automated extraction. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any collaboration data shown on the Service.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MOOTBASE, ITS OPERATORS, OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) US $10. Because the Service is currently free, this effectively caps our liability at US $10.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will display a notice within the Service at least 30 days before the new Terms take effect. Your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you should stop using the Service before they take effect.
